Everyone knows Indonesian dishes that sometimes require hours of cooking. Delicious, but these aren't the dishes that Indonesian and Moluccan households prepare daily. Creative cooking and a desire to prepare quickly have resulted in unique dishes, combining flavors from Indonesian, Moluccan, and Dutch cuisines. In SAMA SAMA, Perry speaks with Indonesian and Moluccan Dutch people who share their best dishes. Taste Vanja van der Leeden's polenta rendang, try Paul and Les Toorop's frikandel pan, or make Frédérique Spigt's Indonesian hutspot with meatballs – and read their remarkable stories. Perry also shares the dishes that had customers queuing at De Toko, such as his ketjap beets, vlam toasted sandwich, and sambal.

Vormlust designed the entire book. The cover, stickers, and various backgrounds were printed specifically for this project with our RISO printer. By re-scanning these prints and weaving them as visual elements throughout the book, a cohesive whole is created with a distinctly handmade character.
